Corporate Safety Manager
Portsmouth, VA
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent shipyard experience).
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive safety experience in maritime or shipyard industrial environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing safety programs for federal ship repair and maintenance contracts (NAVSEA, MARMC, MARAD, MSC, or similar).
- Knowledge of: NAVSEA Standard Items (e.g., 009-07, 009-12, 009-24, 009-32), OSHA 29 CFR 1915 Shipyard Employment standards, NFPA, ANSI, and EPA environmental health standards, Confined space entry, hot work, rigging, and crane operations safety, Environmental spill response and hazardous waste handling
- OSHA 30-Hour Maritime or Construction certification required (OSHA 500/501 preferred).
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification required; HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120) certification preferred.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
- Ability to travel to all sites
