Job Seekers
Working With Your Career Specialist
Building a Strong Partnership for a Successful Job Search
Let's work together to get you hired!
A successful job search is built on a strong, collaborative relationship between the candidate and their Career Specialist. Each step in the process is designed to meet candidates where they are, provide personalized guidance, and equip them with the tools needed to confidently pursue new opportunities.
1. Welcome Questionnaire: Setting the Foundation
The journey begins with a welcome questionnaire. This helps the Career Specialist understand:
• The candidate’s background and goals
• Where they currently are in their job search
• What support they need most
This step ensures expectations are clear and creates a shared understanding of how you’ll work together.
2. Phone Consultation: Creating a Game Plan
Next comes a personalized phone consultation. This conversation allows the Career Specialist to build a tailored strategy, which may include:
• Reviewing and refining the resume
• Rewording or strengthening key verbiage
• Translating military experience into civilian language
• Reviewing or optimizing the LinkedIn profile
• Identifying training or upskilling opportunities
• Highlighting both hard and soft skills
This is where the roadmap for the candidate’s job search truly takes shape.
3. Resume Revisions: Crafting a Strong Master Resume
After the consultation, the Career Specialist works with the candidate to create a polished master resume. This involves:
• Drafting and revising resume versions
• Ensuring alignment with job requirements
• Highlighting relevant experience and skills
• Preparing a strong base resume that can be tailored for each application
Because companies increasingly require tailored resumes, this collaborative process is essential. Candidates must understand expectations and stay engaged to ensure accuracy and alignment.
4. Ongoing Collaboration: Staying Connected
The job search is dynamic, and communication is key. Candidates should:
• Stay in touch with their Career Specialist
• Share updates on applications and interviews
• Ask questions when unsure
• Continue learning about the job market and opportunities

Success Stories

VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs operate under funding agreements, statutory authority, and program objectives that restrict service delivery to defined military‑affiliated populations. Eligibility is therefore limited to transitioning service members, veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserve, military spouses, survivors, caregivers, and individuals with verified military affiliation. These limitations ensure compliance with grant requirements and responsible stewardship of public and private funds.
